An Elegy for the KnightsThe smell of incense was faint in the small chapel– sandalwood. It fitted the chapel with its dry yet somewhat fresh, purifying smell. It wrapped the stretched hallway under its cloak and cleaned people’s thoughts, maybe bringing the human gods a bit closer to the mere mortals.
The stone-cold walls reaching towards the skies were illuminated by the soft and comforting, yellow light of thousands of candles. They gray stone pillars were decorated with banderols bearing the marks of the Praetors and the Empire. Their golden and white, warm colors were as if they were trying to console everyone who saw them – “Do not fret, child, even if the world is so cold and gray, for we bring forth light”, they said without a voice.
The banderols, the candles and the pillars as if framed the altar at the end of the long hallway, and brought out the beautiful glass-window, the frames of all the Praetors, all standing together to uphold the Light. It all seemed warm a

my breath became lost in the steady
of your chest.
it was a s h y first kiss where
i pulled away before you could explore.
your tongue grazed my teeth,
searching for a way past the ivory gates.
i dug my finger into the stubble along your jaw,
my nail lulling your carnal desires.
it was my first kiss with you.
